Kareena Kapoor is the second child of actors Babita and Randhir Kapoor. Her name is inspired by Anna Karenina, the famous book by Leo Tolstoy. Kareena was born on September 1st, 1980. As per the traditions which ran in the Kapoor family, it was not agreeable for women in Kapoor family to join films. This barrier was broken by Karisma Kapoor, Kareena’s sister. Kareena followed suit under the watchful eyes of her mother.
Kareena did her schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and went to Welham Girls Boarding school. Kareena studied commerce in Mithibai college for two years and then went to Harvard for three months to do a course in microcomputers and IT. Kareena then studied law in Government Law College, Churchgate for a year and then went to pursuit her interest-acting. She enrolled into Kishore Namit Kapoor school for acting to harness her histrionics.
Professionally:
Though Kareena Kapoor was professionally training for acting, she is a born actress. Sexy Kareena Kapoor can emote with remarkable ease and dignity. It is tough to pinpoint which is her best performance though her roles in Dev, Chameli, Khushi and Fida take the cake. However success has always eluded her if you consider Kareena has been in this industry for quite some time now. Kareena Kapoor is in fact the only actress who feature in the top bracket of actresses without having a single superhit in her name, that she has carried only on her shoulders.
Kareena Kapoor’s first film was Refugee, where she looked fresh as morning dew. She received the Filmfare best debut award in the year 2000. Her next movie Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hain was a moderate hit. Films like Asoka and Yaadein followed but they dint do much to her career. Kareena Kapoor disappointed everyone with turkeys like Yaadein, Talaash, Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Jeena Sirf Mere Liye, Bewaffa and Jaanwar. Kareena had high hopes in Main Prem Ki Deewani, a Sooraj Barjatya movie, which turned to be a washout. Howeever offers came in hordes for Kareena, the sexy babe who never seem to lose lustre. Kareena Kapoor looked sexy without being vulgar in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gam and Chameli.
Kareena Kapoor had her share of hits like Omkara, Kabhi Khushie Kabhi Gum, Don(special appearance), Hulchul and Aitraaz. In all of these movies, sexy Kareena acted brilliantly and gave powerhouse performances but they were all movies in which she had a part to play, a crucial part. However she has to attain the status of a Rani Mukherjee or a Tabu who can carry a movie in her shoulders. Kareena did try it with Dev and Chameli but they were tepid successes.
